Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC), is an initiative typically found in educational institutions, aimed at fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students. It provides a platform for students to nurture their entrepreneurial skills, offering guidance, resources, and support to help them turn their innovative ideas into viable business ventures. IEDCs often organize workshops, mentorship programs, networking events, and funding opportunities to encourage and empower aspiring entrepreneurs within the academic community. These cells play a crucial role in bridging the gap between academia and the startup ecosystem, contributing to economic growth and job creation. In December 2022, the inception of KCOA IEDC marked a significant milestone in the realm of KCoA’s architectural education pattern. This initiative, undertaken by the KCOA community, was driven by a resolute commitment to foster innovation and entrepreneurial spirit amongst budding architects. Distinctly student centric, KCOA IEDC operates under the guidance of faculty members, who serve as facilitators rather than directors. The primary objectives of this endeavor encompass a triad of forward-looking pursuits:
• To explore the intervention of Artificial intelligence into Architecture and design practices.
• To expand the reach of design to every strata of human population

In the landscape of contemporary Indian building practices, traditional, resource-intensive norms hold sway. Simultaneously, a surge of innovation has flooded the market with novel building materials, elements, and construction methodologies. These cutting-edge products and techniques, championing sustainability, aesthetics, and advanced technology, represent a transformative movement in the industry. Among these offerings are explorations into natural and indigenous building materials like bamboo and mud, alongside a diverse array of engineered wood panels and innovative cladding materials. Additionally, there is a notable trend towards repurposing plastics and other waste materials. This thematic narrative impels aspiring architects to interrogate established norms surrounding building materials, elements, and methodologies. Through this theme, architectural students are urged to channel their creativity and challenge the status quo. They are encouraged to bring forth their visionary concepts, spanning from alternative building materials to pioneering finishes and cladding products, innovative furnishings, dynamic wall and window units, avant-garde facade systems, progressive roofing techniques, imaginative interior elements, and revolutionary modular construction methods. This dynamic discourse paves the way for a future marked by cost-effective, sustainable, and environmentally conscious construction practices.
In the realm of product and service design, there exists a prevailing tendency to cater to the needs of the average adult citizen. However, this conventional approach inadvertently constrains designers, preventing them from attending to the unique yet fundamentally important requirements of individuals who fall outside this statistical norm. Additionally, it overlooks the needs of our fellow cohabitants within a shared ecosystem. This thematic initiative seeks to bridge this gap by fostering socially and environmentally responsible concepts that are specifically tailored to address the distinct challenges faced by communities or groups often marginalized in society. Pertinent subjects encompass poverty alleviation, inclusivity, gender equality, and related topics falling under this broad thematic umbrella. Students are strongly encouraged to submit their visionary ideas, offering innovative solutions that directly confront the present social and environmental circumstances of these often overlooked cohabitants. Examples of such pioneering projects include the Hippo Water Roller Project, the Chekkutty Project supporting weavers and the Honda Ashirase in-shoe navigation system catering to the visually impaired. These exemplify the remarkable potential that lies within this thematic domain, poised to drive transformative change for the betterment of society as a whole.
